About me:
Hello! My name is Amanda and I am a thirty something wife and mother to two small little kiddos; and I have been an interior designer in a commercial interior design firm for over nine years. I enjoy spending time with my family, LOVE anything crafty and have a small little business where I can express my creativity creating hair accessories for infants, toddlers and little girls and DIY party printables for special occasions, Karis Kisses Boutique.
My design experience:
I have worked as a interior designer in an commercial interior design firm for over nine years, where I have had the opportunity to work on amazing health care and hospitality projects including medical centers, radiation and oncology therapy centers, imaging centers and the historic Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite Valley. Through the years of experience I have managed projects, selected finishes, furniture, fabrics and artwork. I have had the opportunity to hone my skills in space planning (furniture and flow placement), creating unique details to an interior and managed installations of finishes, furniture and artwork of 20,000 square feet.
In the past few years I have had the opportunity to design for residential clients in new construction and remodel work. From selecting finishes to recommending furniture, fabrics and artwork, each project is unique in design and appeals to each clients personal interests and style.
This little blog:
I started this blog to document the design work that I have done to make our suburban house a home. When we purchased our home back in 2007 it screamed 1970's and ever since we have been updating it on a shoestring budget. We have added two kiddos to the mix, so organization of "thing" (toys and the such) has become a challenge, along with continuing to make our home fun and interesting by changing up the interiors, furniture layouts and artwork locations...I love doing this, it feels like a new home every time I do it! I hope to share tidbits of what we have learned and easy tutorials that you can do around your home too! I always welcome questions and suggestions...so please let me your thoughts!
